Savor the Season:
2007 Highlights
On Sunday, September 23, Food Bank supporters celebrated the flavors of autumn at our fifth annual Savor the Season event. We are pleased to report that the event raised nearly $50,000 that will directly support the Food Bank’s hunger relief and advocacy efforts.
Surrounded by gardens, vineyards and hillsides, Savor the Season guests relaxed under cloud-dotted skies and enjoyed the fine food and wine catered by Wente Vineyards.
The event marked the inaugural “Hope Not Hunger” awards which were presented to KFOG and Dagmar Serota of Good Cents for Oakland. The awards were presented in recognition of outstanding efforts to help eradicate hunger in the Bay Area.
Joey Altman, celebrity chef and host of Bay Café, served as the keynote speaker and gave a rousing pitch for the Food Bank. KFOG’s Renee Richardson served as auctioneer and kept people bidding higher and higher in the live auction, which featured such treats as a Sea Ranch getaway and homemade meal by César chef Maggie Pond.
Music by the Silverwood Jazz Quartet provided an easy backdrop to visiting, bidding and dining.
The crowd was abuzz over the selection of items offered in the silent auction. Guests outbid each other on unique items such as Tiffany jewelry, outdoor excursions, autographed sports memorabilia, wine tours and more.
A special thanks to all our guests, sponsors, donors and supporters. We rely on the support of community-minded organizations and individuals to continue the fight against hunger in Alameda County.
A warm thank you to all those who attended the event or made a donation. We could not have done it without you!
