Food Stamp Enrollment
January - December, 2008
Every Wednesday, 9am – 12 noon and 1-4pm

You may qualify for food stamps! It takes only 20-minutes with the Food Bank’s friendly bi-lingual staff. They will help you complete an application and submit it to the food stamp office for you. Call 800-870-3663 and press the option for food stamps to make an appointment or just drop by the Food Bank office.

Presentations & Community Fairs
The Food Bank's Community Outreach Program helps low-income families learn about eligibility for nutrition assistance programs, like food stamps.

Food Bank staff are available to visit community organizations and provide free presentations to their clients to help them learn about programs including summer lunch, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and food stamps.

Food Stamps: Pre-screening and Application Help
Many people are eligible for food stamps but do not know or hesitate to apply. Food Bank staff can help families learn more about the Food Stamp Program and assist them in applying. Click here to check your eligibility for food stamps by completing a five-minute, online referral form, or you can contact our bilingual staff to get prescreened over the phone by calling 800-870-(FOOD).

Food Stamp Training and Enrollment Clinics
Food Bank staff provide Food Stamp Program training to community based organizations (CBOs). To schedule one of our outreach staff members to visit your agency, please click here to send us an email.

Free Food Stamp Outreach Material
The Food Bank's resource guide, Free Food Within Your Reach, provides families and individuals with information about food assistance programs. The guide is also available in several languages.

The Food Bank partnered with Alameda County Public Health and has brought the "Free Food Within Your Reach" food resource guide to life by creating a video in English and Spanish. This video is another way of helping the community learn about the free food programs available to them. Food Stamps for Working Families
The Food Bank is launching a new outreach campaign aimed at reaching out to working people. This campaign includes new printed material using real life stories of people who are successfully receiving food stamp benefits. Ignacio Morales (Spanish) tells us how it is “macho” to use foods stamp benefits to help provide food for his family. Germey Baird (English) tells us how it is possible to work and still be eligible for food stamps.
