Donate Stock

Donating appreciated securities allows you to support the Alameda County Community Food Bank while minimizing your out of pocket costs through tax savings the donation generates. Because the value of many investments has increased significantly over the last decade, you may hold assets that, when sold, will generate large capital gains taxes.

You may transfer gifts of stock to the Food Bank without paying capital gains tax. You may also receive a charitable deduction for the value of the stock donated. Please consult with your tax advisor for details.

To ensure proper acknowledgement of your stock donation, including the issuing of a receipt for tax purposes, please complete and submit the Donate Stock form, which will be used for recognition purposes only. Donations CANNOT be made with this form. Please print out the Donate Stock PDF form (68k .pdf* file) and fax or mail it to the Food Bank.
