Industry Food Donations

The Food Bank welcomes food donations from local food manufacturers, food brokers, producers, growers and retailers. Needed donations include frozen, canned, fresh and packaged goods. The Food Bank is especially in need of commodities containing protein.

To donate food please email givefood@accfb.org, or call (510) 635-3663 ext. 361 or 326. The Food Bank will consider non-food donations, as well.

Why Make Commercial Food Donations to the Food Bank?

  1. DEDUCT UP TO TWICE THE COST OF GOODS
Donations to the Food Bank, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, are eligible for a charitable tax donation of up to twice the cost of foods. We encourage you to consult with your tax advisor in applying the appropriate deduction(s) for your business.

See the 2016 changes to food donation tax incentives.

  2. MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY
You and your employees can feel good about putting food on the tables of clients in need exclusively in Alameda County.
  3. DONATE TO HUNDREDS OF ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH ONE SOURCE
Alameda County Community Food Bank distributes enough food for 300,000 meals weekly to 240 strategically placed member agencies – food pantries, soup kitchens, child-care centers, senior centers, after-school programs and other community based organizations.
  4. SAVE MONEY
By making a product donation, you can save space and eliminate the high costs associated with storing, transporting and dumping unsalable food. We’ll even ensure timely pickup of your donation.
  5. GENERATE CORPORATE GOODWILL
Donating food can build loyalty with your customers. Recent surveys show that 83% of consumers have a positive image of companies which support causes they care about – and 81% would be likely to switch brands to one associated with a good cause.
