2008 Highlights
On Thursday, June 5, over 225 guests gathered in the Food Bank warehouse for this family-friendly event. We are pleased to report that Empty Bowls raised over $48,000 that will directly support our hunger relief and advocacy efforts.
Guests nourished themselves on a simple meal of bread and soup served in one of 300 colorful bowls painted by students at Redwood Day School. The empty bowls serve as a reminder that hunger is prevalent worldwide and a local community issue.

| |
Guests selected a hand-painted bowl for their soup, which they then took home as a reminder of the empty bowls in our community.

Families were invited to decorate a brown lunch bag with artwork and a message to support healthy school lunches. The bags will be sent to Washington DC to advocate for a strong 2009 Child Nutrition Program Reauthorization.
