Food Drive Coordinator

The Food Drive Coordinator plays an essential role in securing food donations to benefit low-income residents. Responsibilities include managing the logistics of hundreds of food drives throughout the year, while providing exceptional customer service to cultivate new and established relationships with community groups, schools, religious organizations and businesses that participate in food collection activities. The ideal candidate will be able to provide tools, encouragement and motivation to food drive participants. Occasional events and off site presentations also required. This position is primarily focused on administrative tasks including preparing mailings, entering data and communicating with clients over the phone and email.

The Food Drive Coordinator will process new food drive sign ups, schedule barrel deliveries/pickups, and analyze reports using SalesForce software. As a member of the Development team, this individual will initiate and assist in creating communication materials to promote food drives, while exploring opportunities for increased levels of involvement. During the busy holiday season, a key responsibility of this position will be to train and share responsibilities with a temporary full time assistant for 4 months. The person in this position will also supervise volunteers in various functions throughout the year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years’ experience working in a community based organization or customer service setting in fastpaced office environment
  • Strong organizational capabilities and attention to detail is essential
  • Computer proficiency including MSOffice and experience with databases and CRM software; experience with SalesForce a plus
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to maintain a calm, flexible demeanor under pressure
  • Basic mathematical skills for accurate record keeping
  • Must have a passion for the Food Bank’s mission; enjoy brainstorming, and developing strategies
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team and collaboratively across departments
  • Strong writer able to craft professional emails and persuasive letters to engage food drive participants
  • Valid CA driver’s license and good driving record; access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting with people of diverse backgrounds/circumstances
  • Bachelor’s degree in social services, communications or related field, or equivalent education

This is a full time, non-exempt position working 37.5 hours per week Mon-Fri. Salary is starting at $17.90 per hour. We offer an outstanding benefit package to include medical, dental, supplemental insurances, a matching 403(b), EAP and FSA as well as vacation, sick and holiday pay.
