Lucky Launches Peanut Butter Drive to Help Food Banks

Lucky Peanut Butter Roundup

Lucky Supermarkets is teaming up with food banks throughout the Bay Area for the #PeanutButterRoundup to help feed hungry kids this summer. From May 17-30, when you buy one Jif, Smuckers or Sunny Select Peanut Butter or Jelly from your local Lucky Supermarket, you get one of the same brand free to donate to us. Food barrels are by the check stands to place your donation. Last year, Lucky and its sister brand, Save Mart, collectively received ten tons of peanut butter and jelly during a similar drive – enough to make a quarter-million sandwiches. That’s a lot of happy kids!

The other important way to participate is to tell your Lucky cashier you want to round up your grocery bill. 100% of the change will benefit local food banks – including us! Last year, this portion of the campaign raised nearly $10,000, helping thousands of children.

The Peanut Butter Roundup raises awareness about the struggles many families experience during the summer break when their kids have no access to school meals. Currently, one in four of the state’s children goes to bed hungry each night. That’s 2.3 million kids. This campaign helps fill the gap by stocking the pantries of local food banks. Peanut Butter makes for a perfect donation because it’s high in protein, shelf-stable and kids enjoy it.

Make sure you use #PeanutButterRoundup on social media to spread the word!
