CalFresh Outreach

CalFresh is the new name for the federal Food Stamps Program in California.
In most other states, this program – administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture – is now known
as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

CalFresh Enrollment

You may qualify for CalFresh! It takes only 20 minutes to get started with the Food Bank’s friendly multilingual staff. They will help you complete an application and submit it to the CalFresh office for you.

You can contact our multilingual office staff to get prescreened over the phone by calling (800) 870-FOOD (3663). Press the option for CalFresh.

You may also apply online at www.benefitscalwin.org.

CalFresh: Pre-screening and Application Help


Food Bank staff is also available to visit your community based organization to provide CalFresh prescreening and application assistance. Send us an email to schedule a visit from our multilingual (English/Spanish/Cantonese/Mandarin/Vietnamese) outreach staff.

NEW! Quarterly Reporting Workshops

Applying for CalFresh benefits and staying in the program has never been easy for many families. For this reason, the Alameda County Community Food Bank is now offering Quarterly Reporting (QR-7) Workshops for families and individuals. The QR-7 workshops take place on the first business day of each month from 9a.m. - 4p.m. No appointment is necessary and walk-ins are welcome!

Participants will receive a handy QR-7 reminder card or magnet with information about the 3 cycles, dates for their “data” and “submit” months, and other helpful tips. QR-7 Workshops are held at the Alameda County Community Food Bank at 7900 Edgewater Drive in Oakland. For more information, call (510) 635-3663 ext. 344.

The Alameda County Community Food Bank and the Alameda County Social Services Agency offer CalFresh Program trainings for local community agency representatives. At these trainings, you will receive helpful tools and information that can help you identify potentially eligible CalFresh recipients.

  • CalFresh 101 (Next Training to be held April 2012!)

  • CalFresh 101(for beginners) offers the basics on program eligibility. You will learn how to prescreen and identify households that are potentially eligible.

  • CalFresh 102 (next training to be held May 2012)

  • CalFresh 102(for advanced learners) offers an in-depth look at program eligibility for special populations such as seniors, disabled, immigrants, felons and homeless. We ask that you first attend a CalFresh 101 training session.

    Presentations & Community Fairs

    The Food Bank's Community Outreach Program helps low-income families learn about eligibility for nutrition assistance programs, like CalFresh.

    Food Bank staff are available to visit community organizations and provide free presentations to their clients to help them learn about programs including summer lunch, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and CalFresh.
