Bat Against Hunger with the Oakland A's "Food Bank Wednesdays"
31 May 2007 -- (Oakland, CA) Fans who step up to the plate and bring canned food items to the Oakland A's Wednesday home games this summer will receive free tickets to a future game. "Food Bank Wednesdays" runs June 6 through September 19 and will benefit the hunger relief efforts of the Alameda County Community Food Bank. Each fan who donates two canned food items will receive one ticket, and may receive up to a maximum of four tickets with additional cans of food. "The Oakland A's going to bat against hunger will help nourish children, seniors and families during critical summer months," said Suzan Bateson, executive director of the Alameda County Community Food Bank. "Summer is an especially difficult time for low-income families who often struggle to provide adequate nutrition for their children, especially since children do not receive free school meals during summer break." Fans can drop off their food donations before each game at food drive barrels located at the Coliseum BART Plaza and at gates C and D. The schedule of upcoming Food Bank Wednesday games is:
