Bat Against Hunger with the Oakland A’s “Food Bank Wednesdays”
Free Game Tickets Offered With Donations

27 May 2008 -- (Oakland, CA) Fans who step up to the plate and donate to the Alameda County Community Food Bank at the Oakland A’s Wednesday home games this summer will receive free tickets to a future game. “Food Bank Wednesdays” runs June 4 through September 17 and will benefit the hunger relief efforts of the Food Bank. Each fan who donates five dollars or two non-perishable food items will receive one ticket, and may receive up to a maximum of four tickets with additional donations.

“The Oakland A’s going to bat against hunger will help nourish children, seniors and families during critical summer months,” said Suzan Bateson, executive director of the Alameda County Community Food Bank. “Summer is an especially difficult time for low-income families who often struggle to provide adequate nutrition for their children, especially since children do not receive free school meals during summer break.”

Fans can drop off their donations before each game at food drive barrels located at the Coliseum BART Plaza and at gates C and D. The schedule of upcoming Food Bank Wednesday games is:

June 4, 12:35 pm Oakland A’s vs. Detroit Tigers
June 11, 7:05 pm Oakland A’s vs. New York Yankees
June 25, 7:05 pm Oakland A’s vs. Philadelphia Phillies
July 9, 7:05 pm Oakland A’s vs. Seattle Mariners
July 30, 12:35 pm Oakland A’s vs. Kansas City Royals
August 13, 7:05 pm Oakland A’s vs. Tampa Bay Rays
September, 17, 7:05 pm Oakland A’s vs. Los Angeles Angels
