Alameda County Community Food Bank Welcomes New Board Members
— Representatives from Health and Hi-Tech Sectors Elected —

23 January 2008 -- (Oakland, CA) The Alameda County Community Food Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Board members: Lydia Tinjero-Deck, M.D., pediatrician at Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland; and Anthony Bettencourt, chief executive officer of ZANTAZ, an Autonomy company.

Dr. Tinajero-Deck, a resident of Oakland, is an expert on pediatric weight management and healthy nutrition. She has given several lectures and presentations on how children can overcome obesity problems and maintain a healthy lifestyle. She is co-director of Children’s HEAL Clinic, which helps children resolve their weight and nutrition issues by helping them improve their eating habits and increase physical activity, and by monitoring their mental health.

Mr. Bettencourt, a resident of Pleasanton, has more than 20 years of senior management experience in a variety of high-tech companies and, most recently, as an entrepreneur-in-residence at US Venture Partners. Previously, as the Chief Executive Officer of Verity, Inc., he grew the business from $15 million in annual revenues to more than $140 million from 1995 to 2005. A veteran of the enterprise search market, Bettencourt led the team that set the strategic direction and execution characteristics of Verity, resulting in Verity’s acquisition by Autonomy at the end of 2005. In 2005, he was awarded the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for software and technology in the Silicon Valley.

Bettencourt serves as a judge for the Tech Awards, is a mentor for Santa Clara University’s Global Social Benefit Incubator program, and is an honorary committee member of The Silicon Valley Challenge Summit. He serves as Chairman on the board of directors for blinkx, the world’s largest and most advanced video search engine, as well as on the board of directors for National Banana, an innovative internet comedy channel that he founded with Jerry Zucker, and Avolent, the leading application software provider for self-service eBilling. He earned a B.A. in English from Santa Clara University and was a past board member for Alameda County Meals on Wheels.
