In an event on March 29 in Pleasanton, 25 of the region’s most influential women were honored. Recognized were women who have made a difference in their communities, blazed new trails and are leaving a mark on East Bay business.

"I am honored to receive this award," said Bateson. "I'm fortunate to lead the Alameda County Community Food Bank, which is a dynamic and exciting organization with a dedicated staff and board of directors. I’m proud of our accomplishments – during my tenure we’ve implemented an extensive and well-regarded food stamp outreach program, increased distribution of fresh produce and purchased a food distribution facility."

She is dedicated to ending hunger in our communities, especially childhood hunger, and her work focuses on ensuring that low-income children and adults receive healthy and nutritious food. She oversees the operation of a $17 million public benefit organization, which distributes more than 12 million pounds of food annually and serves 240,000 low-income people each year.

Bateson serves on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Food Banks, a statewide advocacy organization, as well as the Center for Community Based Organizations. She has served on statewide and national panels that address anti-hunger advocacy, nutrition education and obesity prevention. She lives with her family in Moraga, California.
