Empty Bowls
Thursday, June 2, 2011

Now in its sixth year, Empty Bowls is a family-friendly event that takes place every June at the Food Bank. Business leaders and community members come together as our warehouse is transformed into a party place to raise funds and awareness while alleviating hunger right here in Alameda County.

Empty Bowls raises awareness about hunger issues, educates children and adults about community service and raises much-needed funds for the Food Bank. Guests enjoy a delicious, simple meal of bread and soup, silent auction and children's entertainment. Additionally, as a reminder of the empty bowls on the tables of low-income families throughout Alameda County, guests take home a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted bowl created by local school children and Food Bank supporters.

By sponsoring the 2011 Empty Bowls event, you demonstrate your company's commitment to one of the most important issues facing our community. The Food Bank serves 1 in 6 residents of Alameda County, nearly half of them children.
