We need your voice on Hunger Action Day!

Join Food Bank staff and anti-hunger advocates from across the state on May 24—Hunger Action Day! Over 300 advocates will meet with lawmakers to lobby for budget items and key legislation aimed at alleviating food insecurity and its root causes. It's a powerful, energizing day filled with amazing speakers, meetings with legislators, and a rally on the steps of the State Capitol.

Here are a few key items from our 2017 policy agenda that we'll be advocating for:

  • Increase Supplemental Security Income/State Supplemental Payment (SSI/SSP)
  • Expand access to school meals for students of all ages, including college students
  • Expand the CalEITC to all self-employed Californians who meet income eligibility requirements, and increase the income eligibility threshold to include full-time minimum wage earners
  • Increase funding for state food assistance, including funding CalFood at $17.5 million to maintain the current level of support for emergency food

While our bus to Sacramento is full, we still welcome anyone who’d like to come for the day. Email advocate@accfb.org with any questions.
