Summer is the time that children get to take a break from school. However, it’s not a break for many families we serve because for them, school provides a critical resource: free or reduced-price meals.  These meals are important to ensuring children have consistent access to healthy food.

When there’s no school, there are no school meals.

That’s why we have Fields to Families: A Summer Produce Challenge, which provides fresh fruits and vegetables to help the 1 in 5 Alameda County residents we serve. When you donate to the Summer Produce Challenge now through July 15, your gift will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000. That means double the produce for children and families!

Bridging the summer meal gap puts an enormous burden on families that are already stretched. The choices they face — food or rent; food or medicine; food or gas to get to work — are decisions no one should have to make. You can change that.

Help families get nutritious produce.
