New Volunteer Sign-up System

We have exciting news! Starting next month, we will be rolling out a new volunteer sign-up system. For the first time ever, you will be able to browse upcoming shifts in a calendar view, see all of your upcoming shifts and keep track of how many hours you’ve volunteered. We will follow up towards the end of May with more information on the new system, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, we still have open shifts for June and they are filling up fast! As always, we’re here to help. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Volunteer Spotlight!

We love getting to know new volunteers like Shane Trigilio. He has been a regular sight in our warehouse for the last few months, and it is impossible to exaggerate how much help he has been. Working on bulk produce, running the assembly line, helping load vehicles in our Community Market - Shane is always willing to jump right in! He keeps coming back because he knows that hunger impacts our community and that he has the time and ability to help. We are so thankful for Shane and the many volunteers like him who have stepped up to ensure we all continue to have access to healthy food!

Leading the Way

If you’ve volunteered with us, chances are you have seen our Lead Volunteers rocking their vibrant yellow reflective vests. But did you know, before the pandemic, we had only 35 Lead Volunteers helping us coordinate our 12 volunteer shifts a week? Now we have a crew of 65 Lead Volunteers, and each one of them is an invaluable help! They oversee volunteer sign-in, help us coordinate projects, and assist with guiding groups. Lead volunteers are a big part of how we build community in our warehouse and around Alameda County.
