Volunteers, your help is needed!

We Need Help Building Produce Bags!

Volunteers sorting produce

Volunteer numbers are looking light this summer, but our need for volunteers continues to increase. Specifically on Monday and Wednesday mornings, we have a special project on the assembly line building produce bags with fresh, mixed produce. This is when we need the most volunteers. Please consider joining us on those shifts or any shifts that work for you! Choose your shift HERE

Charlie Bids Volunteers a Fond Farewell!

"As most of you know, I have stepped away from my role as volunteer manager and into the world of retirement.  Working at ACCFB for the past 19 years has been an extremely rewarding experience. I had the great good fortune to work with so many caring, compassionate and generous volunteers.  Your dedication to the Food Bank’s mission and the day-to-day teamwork required to make it happen has been incredibly inspiring.

I hope that the friendships I've made at ACCFB will continue. You can reach me at beyercharles@hotmail.com.

Thank you all!"

Congratulations Graduates!

We’re celebrating lots of grads this month. Some of the graduates from the adult transition programs at Alameda High School and Dublin Unified shared a cake and well wishes from our staff and volunteers. Congratulations and thank you for the many hours of service to the community. Come back and see us soon!

Volunteers Showing Their Pride

Volunteers brought friends, family and partners to our third annual Pride sort. In addition to packing lots of fruits and veggies we laughed, danced and grooved to some live music from Emily Zisman, courtesy of our friends at Breads & Roses Presents. Staff and volunteers shared stories and inspired us all to stand up for the rights of LGBTQIA+ people everywhere.

A ‘Night on the Town’ for the Community

Volunteers, pantry clients and other neighbors enjoyed food trucks, live music and and other activities for our first “Night on the Town” at the Oakland Museum of California. Volunteers helped share information about our work and even showed the community how we sort produce!

Summer Match

Hunger is on the Ballot!

clip art of ballotThere’s a big election this fall, and we need volunteers to help us at food distributions and other events where we’ll be working to engage the community in voter and advocacy work. We need everyone’s voice to be heard on policies that impact hunger in our community. To get involved or learn more, please email Community Organizer Jocelyn Vera at jvera@accfb.org.
