In Community

The recent election brings leadership changes to all levels of government — from new local legislators to a new federal administration. One thing that remains unchanged, however, is our commitment to ending hunger and its root causes. Truly solving hunger means meeting community need today while also working toward long-term solutions that ensure food security. That is why we’ve made policy change core to our mission for 20+ years. Your support empowers us to advance anti-hunger legislation, testify at hearings, and center the voices of neighbors most impacted by hunger to advocate for policies that will lead to a hunger free community for all.

You’re Invited: The State of Hunger in Alameda County

2024 has been an eventful year (so far!) for our community. From big policy wins, to record food distribution, to a consequential election — there’s a lot happening, and a lot on our minds right now.

With the busy holiday season in full swing and potentially bigger 2025 ahead of us, now’s a perfect time to reflect on the current State of Hunger in Alameda County and discuss the many ways you — our community — can engage in our work.

Join us Wednesday, November 20th, for a conversation with ACCFB’s Executive Director Regi Young, Chief Impact Officer Liz Gomez, and Chief of Strategy and Partnerships Allison Pratt.

Thank you, Nirvair!

Nirvair, age 6, held a food drive for ACCFB for his 6th birthday. In lieu of gifts, he asked his friends and family to donate some of their favorite foods. Together they collected 133lbs of food!

Before the party Nirvair called and asked what types of food neighbors needed. As a result, we received oatmeal, peanut butter and tuna!

Last week Nirvair, his mom, dad, and little sister all visited the Food Bank to drop off their donation and get a tour of our warehouse. They loved seeing the giant freezers, ELP bus, and all the fresh produce!

This holiday season, please consider a gift of non-cash assets. With our partner, FreeWill, you can explore smarter giving options and support ACCFB in a financially beneficial way.
