A Legacy of Innovation

Alameda County Community Food Bank, alongside Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, was just awarded the Legacy Award for the 2025 East Bay Innovation Awards! Thanks to the East Bay Economic Development Alliance (East Bay EDA) for this great honor. This award celebrates and honors the extraordinary companies and organizations that contribute to the East Bay’s legacy of innovation.

“The biggest reason I decided to join Alameda County Community Food Bank was this organization’s reputation for innovation in the name of hunger-relief,” says our executive director, Regi Young, in the announcement which notes our 40-year history of accomplishments ranging from being the first food bank in the nation to stop distributing soda to burgeoning Food as Medicine work.

ICYMI: State of Hunger Town Hall

For those who joined our Virtual Town Hall on the State of Hunger, thank you! And for those that want to watch still or watch again, take a look at the link below. ACCFB’s Executive Director Regi Young, Chief Impact Officer Liz Gomez, and Chief of Strategy and Partnerships Allison Pratt discussed the current State of Hunger in Alameda County and the many ways you — our community — can engage in our work.

Thank you, Valentino!

7-year-old Valentino turned his entrepreneurial dream into reality by setting up a lemonade stand over the summer to support the Food Bank. When he learned that the $15 he was able to donate was enough to purchase and distribute 30 meals for children like him in his community, he set on a mission to raise more before Thanksgiving so that kids would have a special meal during the holiday.

He made a heartfelt video asking friends and family for donations to the Food Bank and raised $650 in just one week! He came into the Food Bank with his family and met Regi, our ED, and saw some of the cool vehicles in the warehouse. Thank you, Valentino!
