Valentine’s Day cheer, community organizing, and ways to give!
February 2026

Share Love, Hope, and Community this Valentine’s Day

Cherries are red, berries are blue. When everyone is nourished, our dreams can come true.

Share a gift this Valentine’s Day that spreads hope throughout our community. Make a gift in a loved one’s name to ACCFB and send a Valentine’s Day e-Card. Love is an essential part of community and we invite you to celebrate love with a gift to help end hunger in Alameda County.

Building People Power with Lucia Henry

“No big change has been made without people coming together...Even when it has seemed insurmountable, that change is still being made.”
-Lucia Henry (Second from right)

Meet Lucia Henry, a community organizer, member of ACCFB’s Food Justice Organizing Task Force, and now an ACCFB staff member. We sat down with Lucia to learn about what community organizing means to her and how a collective effort to speak at Board of Supervisors meetings led to a $10 million investment in food security.

Pull Up A Chair: What's New In Community Organizing

Hunger is about more than just a lack of food. It is about a lack of power. Here at Alameda County Community Food Bank, our community organizing team is moving beyond our core emergency food work to also address the deeper reasons hunger exists in the first place. Our community organizing work is building the leadership and community relationships needed for real, systemic change in Alameda County.

There is a place for everyone in this movement, whether you are a seasoned advocate or just starting out. Visit www.accfb.org/organize to learn more and sign up for an info session with one of our organizers. You can also attend our Food Justice Organizing Task Force General Meeting on Thursday, Feb 19 on Zoom from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and our Leadership Academy (COLAP) Training series on March 3 on Zoom from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Every connection strengthens this movement. We look forward to seeing you there and working together to shape lasting solutions to hunger.
