Make Your Voice Heard in Sacramento
Thanks to collective advocacy on Hunger Action Day, the California State Legislature just passed a budget bill that includes our anti-hunger priorities including funding food banks and filling in some of the gaps left by SNAP/CalFresh cuts.
Governor Newsom has a June 30 deadline to sign the budget bill, which means your voice will truly make a difference right now. Send a message to the Governor today, asking him to sign the budget bill without any cuts to critical anti-hunger programs.

Join Us at the County Fair
We hope to see you at the Alameda County Fair on Wednesday, July 1. Come support the Food Bank and get free admission to the fair when you bring at least 4 non-perishable food items or donate $10. Plus, there will be $1 Carnival Rides until 5pm.

CalFresh: Navigating the Latest SNAP Cuts
This year, an estimated 20,000-30,000 people in Alameda County are losing their SNAP/CalFresh benefits permanently due to federal cuts. With new restrictions for humanitarian immigrants and strict work requirements starting to take effect, it is more challenging than ever for many of us to access the food we need. This further illustrates that hunger is a policy choice, and that actions at the federal level have real impacts here in Alameda County.

A Memorable Night on The Town
Thank you to all who came out Night on The Town at the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA)! Families explored ACCFB's programs through a 'Food Justice Quest,' visiting interactive booths featuring games and activities focused on food access, nutrition, and community support. Attendees also enjoyed a book giveaway with Stephen and Ayesha Curry's Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation and food from Off the Grid.
The evening was a meeting of art, culture, community, and food justice and we can’t wait to see what we can do together next!

Celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride, Resistance, and Joy
Every single volunteer shift at ACCFB centers joy as much as it does hard work. This was especially true at this month's Pride Day of Service & Celebration, where more than 150 volunteers joined to sort food to go out to the community and celebrate LGBTQ+ pride with food, music, poetry, and a drag performance.
Together, volunteers packaged 38,739 pounds of produce, which is equivalent to 32,153 meals. Every bag of produce was packed with a little bit of extra joy, which we know will radiate into our community.

Join Our Growing Community Organizing Efforts
Community members with lived experience with hunger are learning how to change the systems that cause it. That's the work our Community Organizing team has been doing this year in Alameda County.
Through outreach, trainings, and community events, we connected with more than 7,000 people this year. That work helped grow the Food Justice Organizing Task Force into a network of more than 350 community members, all organizing around food access, immigrant rights, tenant protections, and economic justice across the county.
This spring, we completed all 12 bilingual sessions of our Leadership Academy. Close to 65 community members and partner agencies are getting ready to graduate. More than 3,500 public comments went out from our community to stop a federal prison in our county from being converted into an immigration detention facility.
