Susie joined the Food Bank in 2023 as our first Director of Strategy. To our work she brings experience as an innovator and equity designer, having worked previously in education, tech and the social sector. Her passion is co-designing with community members. She founded and led the K12 Lab at the d.school at Stanford University. She is also a co-creator of Liberatory Design and the author of Design for Belonging: How to Build Inclusion and Collaboration in Your Communities (2022).

Susie grew up in Indiana, Oregon, and Washington D.C. and has lived in the Bay Area for 30 years. She loves to kayak and to hike in the Oakland hills. Susie volunteers for Reparation Generation, with whom she enjoys hosting meals to build the movement for reparations for Black Americans.
