Melvin CowanEnough Housing

Melvin has proudly served as a board member for the Alameda County Community Food Bank for over three years. He believes in cultivating communities guided by the social determinants of health, with food access being paramount to fostering thriving communities and recognized as a fundamental human right. He is the Principal Consultant for Enough Housing where he strives to empower communities through innovative affordable housing solutions.

Melvin is a Master’s candidate in Real Estate Development and Design at UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design. Originally from the Bluegrass hills of Kentucky and now residing in the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area, Melvin brings over 20 years of community development experience and seven years in senior management of affordable housing development. His expertise spans operational oversight, contract management, and transformative community engagement.

Driven by a vision to transform urban landscapes into walkable, sustainable, inclusive, and resilient communities, Melvin is deeply committed to addressing the pressing issues of homelessness, service accessibility, and the housing shortage. Melvin believes that leaders have not only an opportunity but a moral obligation to co-create inclusive and equitable environments that promote positive health outcomes. Term expires: 06/30/27
