At Headlands Brewing, we believe that great beer comes with great responsibility. That’s why we’re proud partners of 1% for the Planet, the gold standard for corporate environmental philanthropy. Since 2022, Headlands has donated over $70,000 to local environmental non-profits, and we’re just getting started.

This year, we’ve also teamed up with Earth to Beer, a national campaign involving 40+ breweries dedicated to pushing the limits of environmental stewardship and sustainable business practices. As part of this initiative, we’ve crafted a lovely, locally sourced, and delicate ale – inspired by the Kölsch style – a cool-fermented ale originating in Cologne, Germany.

Our California interpretation utilizes 100% organic, sustainably grown malt from Admiral, imparting soft bread and honey aromas, with a kiss of floral hop notes and a soft yet crisp finish.

To celebrate our Earth to Beer partnership, $1 from every 4-pack of our Kölsch will be donated to the Alameda County Community Food Bank. As unsung heroes in the fight against climate change, food banks prevent billions of pounds of greenhouse gasses from entering the atmosphere by recovering food that would otherwise be wasted. And that’s not all Alameda County Community Food Bank is doing to help our planet. Let’s all cheers to our food banks with a cold Earth to Beer Kölsch!

Headlands will also be hosting a special Earth Day celebration at their Lafayette taproom on April 21st. After you’re done volunteering for the day, head on over for a pint or two! And if you tag @headlandsbrew in a pic of your hard work helping the planet – there’s a $1 beer in it for you. We’ll also have live music, local environmental vendors, and more. Best of all, $1 for every pint of our Earth to Beer Kolsch will go directly to Alameda County Community Food Banks.

This beer inspires us all to do our part. Not only to preserve the agriculture that supports the beer we love, but also because it’s critically important – and the right thing to do.

Cheers to great beer and a great cause!
