On a sunny Tuesday morning, 3-year-old Ivanna runs around a school playground while her mom picks up groceries for her family from our Mobile Pantry.

Ivanna and her mom make this stop at least twice a month. Her mom says serving her three children nutritious food is important. All the fresh fruits and veggies, eggs, milk, and while wheat bread she brings home ensure Ivanna and her siblings get the energy they need to grow and learn.

Many Alameda County families, like Ivanna’s, visit the Food Bank several times a month. Even though both of Ivanna’s parents work, the rising cost of housing can put healthy foods out of reach.

“It’s really expensive,” her mom says of living in the Bay Area.

This holiday season, there are many ways you can help support families like Ivanna’s: donate, volunteer, organize a Virtual Food Drive, or advocate.

Whichever way you decide to help, your support this holiday season makes an impact year round and provides more than just food. Your support means peace of mind for the 1 in 5 people we serve, and it gives hope for a brighter, more secure future.
