Hunger is solvable. Yet, 116,000 people, most of whom are children, turn to Alameda County Community Food Bank every month.

Focusing and learning is difficult to do when you’re hungry. And, with the school year in full swing, it’s important for students to go to class with a full stomach, fully nourished, and ready to take on the day.

We’re teaming up with Safeway to fight childhood hunger in our community. When you visit any Safeway or Pak N Save in Alameda County this month, you’ll see signs about Hunger Is.

What is Hunger Is?

Hunger Is has one goal – to eliminate hunger in America by creating and expanding breakfast programs for children.

And, you can join us. Now through Sept. 30, every dollar you donate at checkout at these locations will go directly to the Food Bank. A big thank you to Albertsons Foundation for their partnership and commitment to a hunger-free tomorrow.

On an empty stomach, children don’t have the energy to focus, learn and grow. Childhood hunger is a solvable problem. Together, we can beat hunger for good.
