Grocery Outlet knows that hunger heats up during the summer months.

“Kids are out of school, times are tough, it’s hard to put food on the table, and now families have another meal they have to provide,” said Kyle Noble, Sr. Marketing and Communications Manager.

That’s why Grocery Outlet launched the Independence from Hunger campaign eight years ago – asking shoppers and employees to donate food or money to help food banks buy their most-needed items. Independence from Hunger continues to grow and evolve each year. And this year, Grocery Outlet and their partners helped us get more than 67,000 pounds of food to the 1 in 5 Alameda County residents we serve.

But, that’s not all. This year, all online donations came straight to our Food Bank, which translates to thousands more meals for our neighbors.

“We know that there are folks that really depend on both Grocery Outlet and food banks to feed their families,” Kyle said. “It’s perfect we’re partnered with ACCFB.”

Grocery Outlet’s mission is to touch lives for the better. And for the past eight years, they’ve dedicated their summers to doing just that for our community.
