Gōng xǐ fā cái! Chúc Mừng Năm Mới! 새해복많이받으세요! Happy Lunar New Year!
Lunar New Year is a celebration of togetherness, commemorated by Asian cultures across the globe—and by millions in many different languages. Alameda County is a diverse community and we’re proud to showcase holidays that bring each of us and our family’s joy.
❤️ 🧧🧨This year—from January 22, 2023, to February 9, 2024—is a year of the Water Rabbit 🐰. The sign of Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese culture. 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope. Did you know that the Vietnamese Lunar Zodiac has a different animal this year than the Chinese Zodiac? In the Vietnamese Zodiac, the 4th animal is the cat.
For many that honor Lunar New Year, there is a special emphasis on enjoying “lucky” foods to usher in good fortune. Many citrus varieties are considered symbols of luck, abundance, and good fortune. You may see that we are sourcing and distributing plenty of oranges — and other citrus varieties — to our agency partners this month!
