“I can’t solve every problem. In fact, there’s very few I can solve. But if we all give to the Food Bank, I do think we can solve one of the most basic problems of all — hunger.”

Cindy Carrico still recalls a boy she knew in elementary school. Back then, she noticed that he often had only a hard-boiled egg for lunch — or sometimes nothing at all.

“My mother was always sending me to school with more than I could eat, so I’d share part of my sandwiches with him,” she says.

Cindy says she shares the story now to demonstrate that even small acts can make a big difference.

“That’s why I’ve been giving to the Food Bank since 2011 and have been a monthly donor since 2021,” she says. “Monthly donations allow the Food Bank to budget so they know what money they can count on to get food into the community.”

That’s especially meaningful for Cindy when she thinks of children like the boy she went to school with. Monthly gifts help make sure children – who make up one of the biggest groups the Food Bank serves — and neighbors of all ages have nutritious food to fuel each day.

“Please join me in becoming a monthly donor,” Cindy urges.

Every time you give, you make an impact that reaches across the entire community. Thank you for the incredible difference you make for the 1 in 4 people facing food insecurity in Alameda County.
